Julian Fortuna

Youth Organizer Georgia Youth Justice Coalition
Julian Fortuna is a Georgia youth organizer working at the intersection of public education and democracy. Julian was a founding organizer and director at the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition, training and leading hundreds of young organizers across the state in the fight for a quality public education. Through GYJC and partner organizations, Julian led efforts to win representative school board maps in Georgia’s largest counties, train hundreds of students across the state to become organizers/legislative advocates, protect students from political violence, and organize intergenerational parent-educator-student coalitions in the wake of Georgia’s classroom censorship laws. He also helped lead efforts to stop anti-LGBTQ legislation in the state legislature and win full and fair funding for Georgia’s public schools.
Julian currently studies at the University of Georgia where he is a Foundation Fellow and Stamps Scholar. He studies comparative politics, law, and applied political science.
