Why Co-Leadership?
The co-leadership model reflects our commitment to shared responsibility and holistic leadership. By balancing outward-facing development with internal stewardship, this structure allows Natasha and Evelyn to each focus deeply on these critical domains. Co-leadership also recognizes emerging trends in the field, where collaborative leadership structures are becoming more effective in addressing complex challenges. As political threats to public education escalate and philanthropy continues to shift, this model ensures that we are best equipped to support the network and drive forward our mission.
Daaiyah Bilal-Threats, a Steering Committee member, shared:
“The co-leadership model allows us to meet today’s challenges head-on by focusing on the strengths of our leaders. Natasha and Evelyn are the right team to guide the Partnership through this critical moment by building our network’s power in support of public education and ensuring that equity remains at the heart of all we do.”
Supporting Public Education: A Shared Vision
Our new co-directors are passionate about supporting and advancing public education. Together, they bring a unique blend of experience and vision that will help the Partnership continue its critical work in protecting and strengthening public education nationwide.
- Natasha Capers on Public Education
“Public education is the heartbeat of our communities and the cornerstone of democracy. It is where we build power, where our children grow, and where we create systemic solutions for systemic problems. I’m excited to start my journey with this network to ensure that every student has access to an education that is truthful, responsive, and honors their identity and culture.” - Evelyn Aissa on Public Education
“Supporting public education means creating systems that are connected, responsive, and accountable to students, families, and communities. It also means nurturing our public schools as the places that help equip our children and youth with the skills and dispositions they need to advance a just multiracial democracy. I’m thrilled to build on my work supporting the Partnership’s powerful strategies for advancing our collective vision.”
Through their collaborative leadership, Natasha and Evelyn are dedicated to ensuring that public education remains a powerful force for equity and opportunity in every community. Their strategic focus will be on strengthening partnerships, building our network’s effectiveness, and amplifying the voices of people who are most impacted by education policy.
We are excited to see the impact of their leadership on our network and the broader field of education. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to move powerfully in support of public education.
